Dracula: When Art Meets Myth

Andrei Ardeleanu

Andrei can be universally described as an architect, painter and illustrator with a passion for creativity, music and life.
However, basketball, Wadō-ryū, arts,  and drawing also define him.
In short: contemporary uomo universale.

Tsvetina Daneva comes from Bulgaria, and is currently a second year Illustration and Graphics student at Coventry University. Always trying to give an out of the box outcome to any art project given. Likes taking challenges and experimenting with different media.

Constantin Maalmarré

"I work with many mediums, my favourite being drawing. I am fascinated by and use lots of lines, formal decisions, generative procedures and unusual materials. I like encryption, I like objects that have a rich story behind them. At the same time, I think the artist should always be accompanied by the writer, which can document and interpret the former. The work submitted for this exhibition is one of a kind in my oeuvre, I rarely use colour as in this one. I tend to be monochromatic and focus on the composition and structures inside of the images. This work is based upon Edvard Munch's "The Day After". However, while his work is gazing upon a creature that he usually fears, I do the same thing by self-reflecting. It's about consuming life, it's about the night, it's about bad decisions, it's about a metaphoric vampire."

Ioana Macovei

'By transforming copper into art I can express my artistic perspectives on every matter of life, being the best medium to communicate my thoughts on the artificially produced world.'

Alexandru Marangoci is a passionate architect, who always challenges the limits of societal reality, he pushes the boundaries of art beyond the human imagination.

Mateea Marianciuc

Even though she is creating her path towards Marketing, she demonstrates an incredible artistic sense, proving that art and business can be bridged for extraordinary outcomes.

Nature Exposed

Robert Andrew is a second year student of Visual Communication at Birmingham City University. He has always enjoyed photography, ever since he was a child, so it seemed only natural to choose the Photography pathway of his degree. He has a passion for documentary work that focuses on both the natural world and urban environments. He has recently took an interest in macro photography, which he will showcase at "Nature Exposed".

Jonathan Day grew up wanting to be a poet. His early love of e.e.cummings, Dylan Thomas and bits of Ted Hughes were leavened by a deep fascination and love of the poets who forged and twisted their words together with melody and the sound of instruments. Jonathan is now a writer, image maker and musician who lives in Shropshire.

He has written three books and released two collections of songs. The latest, “Atlantic Drifter” ("stunning" according to Bob Harris) will be released soon.

Andreea Calina is a student at BCU School of Media. She specialises in Television, but has always loved Photography. Funnily, Andreea discovered her passion five years ago through a Comenius Project related to "nature" and "woods". Her photos are colourful and she tries to outline how rich and vivid this life is.

Kendall "Kenny" Cowle is a photography student at Birmingham City University. Living in the wonderful county of Wales, she has discovered her passion for landscape and the outdoors. She has an interest in providing environmental awareness through her images.
"Photography for me is about exploring, to engage in that beauty of abandonment, the mystery of what used to be, fascinated by the desolate beauty abandoned to nature, from the monumental stonework of castles to what survives of grand architectural structures."

Ian Jukes is a Visual Communication student at Birmingham City University, having chosen to specialise in Photography. He is highly skilled with a camera, and his passion can be seen in his photographs. He always has his camera on-hand, capturing powerful images that send various messages. For this exhibition, he has chosen to show an image from Fleetwood, near Blackpool, with a powerful Eco message.

Grace Kellett is a Visual Communication student at Birmingham City University. She is specialising in Fine Art and Documentary Imagery, having a strong emphasis on conceptual thinking. She views the world around her through storytelling eyes, and she is "someone who seeks those special visual moments, a photographer who likes to express a feeling, stopped in time."

Life is continuous still,

Nature will reflect."

Celie Nigoumi is a Visual Communication student, specialising in Photography. "My curious nature has recently strengthened my desire to capture unusual and contrasting elements of the architectural and natural landscape. By recording scenes in which man made and natural elements come together in both disruptive and disciplined manners, I hope to produce uncertain yet beautiful images that encourage people to really look into the surroundings that we take for granted."

Ella Schultz is a student at the Birmingham Institute of Art and Design and she combines nature photography with human subjects. She loves to present her vision through photographing subjects in bright colours, often with contrasting elements.

Diana Stoica is a Media and Communication student. Her chosen specialism is Television due to her passion for film and scriptwriting, however, she pursues photography as a hobby, seeing it as a means to capture different moments and even discover new realities: “What amazes me every time is how you get to see certain things through your camera which you often do not notice with the naked eye.”
